Bio-Gas to Power Generation
Yashwant Energy Private Limited proposed a project to treat the industrial wastewater generated at Yashwant Sahakari Glucose Karkhana Ltd., Siddheshwar Nagar. Yashwant Glucose is an ISO 9000-2001 certified company manufacturing starch and glucose by processing 180 Ton / maize / day.

The maize processing unit, running 350 days per year, generates 640 M3 effluent per day. This effluent is being treated to generate bio-gas usable to generate electricity. This would meet pollution control requirements and also generate revenue for the company. The project envisages basically treating of industrial waste and to make it pollution control standards compliant. The Bio digester installed to provide the Primary treatment generates 6000 M3 bio-gas per day.

The generated bio-gas is purified using Absorption tower to remove Sulphur. This Purified bio-gas is fired into an IC Engine which is exclusively designed to run on Bio-gas. The unit has started its operation and it is generating 650 KW power. The total power is being consumed by Yashwant Glucose as captive power for manufacturing of Starch and Glucose.

By reducing the emissions of methane into atmosphere and generating power, which replaces the Grid power requirement, the project is eligible for registration under Clean Development Mechanism with United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change. The project is already registered with UNFCCC and certified with 16300 MT of CO2 emission reductions every year.
